Definition from Glossary

A planar tracing that resembles an arrowhead or gothic arch made by means of a device attached to the opposing arches. The shape of the tracing depends on the location of the marking point relative to the tracing table, i.e., in the incisal region as opposed to posteriorly. The apex of a properly made anterior tracing is considered to indicate the centric relation position, called also arrow-point tracing, gothic arch tracing, needlepoint tracing—see CENTRAL BEARING TRACING DEVICE
