maxillary sinus

Description
Air-filled (pneumatic) cavity (sinus) in the maxilla. Also referred to as the paranasal sinus. Secretion drains via the middle meatus of the nose. Infections (sinusitis) may lead to partial or total obstruction of the maxillary sinus. The nerves supplying the upper teeth run along its floor.
